Alaska Food Is Definitely Worth The Trip
As if Alaska were not famous enough for their scenery and wildlife, but they are very famous for their excellent Alaskan food as well. Some of Alaska’s specialties include wild berries, elk, caribou, king crab, halibut, shrimp, cod, clams, oysters and much more.

These are so well known to the locals and so if an Alaska vacation is in your travel plans this summer be sure to try the local food. Of course, there’s no way you should ever get out of Alaska without diving into a plate of decadent Alaskan salmon.

One of the other fantastic finds in Alaska is their sourdough bread. Many Alaskan families enjoy this bread so much that they use the starter dough for a majority of their breads and other baked goods.

Some folks think that the pioneers were responsible for bringing the scrumptious sourdough to the Alaska wilderness since they found it to be an easy traveler as well as a great food on the trail.

Here’s something else that you have to try in Alaska and that is the wild game! Think about enjoying a great Alaskan meal of reindeer, elk, moose and even caribou.

Some of the most interesting Alaskan foods featuring wild game are moose soup, reindeer sausage and even loin of caribou. Many Alaskan cooks take the catch of the day and simply add it to a hearty batch of soup and enjoy a bowl along with a hunk of sourdough bread and call it good.

For the food that is not based on what is offered in Alaska, there are also other alternatives, including many Russian restaurants and many Thai restaurants- five in Fairbanks alone!

The abundance of these ethnic tastes is mainly because of its location in relation to the Pacific. Along with the ethnic foods, Scandinavian dishes are popular too thanks to recipes passed down from generation to generation from the initial Scandinavian settlers.

If you cannot find what you’re looking for in Alaska then you’re looking for something which perhaps you should just do without. Alaska has such a diverse selection of extraordinary foods.

Most of these foods are from Alaskan-grown animals which gives them such a fresh taste. You see that fish there on your plate as you enjoy dinner on your Alaskan vacation? Well that scrumptious Alaska food was caught only a couple hours ago. It’s that incredible freshness that makes Alaska foods stand fork and spoon above all other cuisine. You simply must enjoy.
