Blackpool - the UK’s Leading Tourist Resort - There’s So Much To Do!
For over a hundred years Blackpool has been the number one destination for holidaymakers in the UK and remains today a must visit destination for anybody touring the UK.
What’s It Got?
It’s got the lot! Fun Park, Aquarium, piers, shows, clean beaches and basically enough to do and see to keep the whole family interested for at least three days.
The world famous Blackpool Pleasure Beach opened its first ride in 1896 and today, over a hundred years on has hundreds of thrilling rides for all the family from roller-coasters, for those who enjoy “white knuckle” rides to the more sedate River Caves cruise. Side shows galore and more candy floss than you could carry. You’ll need a whole day to visit. Wristbands are available to make your visit more economical. Blackpool Tower World is another must see venue. Standing 518 feet high the Blackpool Tower is the first structure you’ll see when arriving at Blackpool - in fact you’ll see it from about 5 miles out of town!

It’s home to an aquarium, fabulous Victorian ballroom, numerous bars, playground and possibly the best show in town - the Blackpool Tower Circus. Again, the family will find lots to do here for the whole day. The three Victorian piers, North, Central and South all have a variety of sideshows, cabaret bars and shops to keep you amused. The Sea Life Centre in the middle of Blackpool’s Golden Mile is home to some of the worlds most beautiful sea creatures and is a very popular family attraction.

The Golden Mile is nowadays a section of Central Promenade that houses all sorts of gaming arcades to keep the children entertained. In years gone by it used to have all sorts of weird and wonderful shows like the Bearded Lady and What the Butler Saw but now caters for the masses by offering funny hats, ice creams galore, markets and a whole heap of games arcades.
A good, inexpensive day out would be to spend the morning at Blackpool Zoo and to have a picnic in Stanley Park (beautiful botanic gardens) on your way back to town centre. Then you could spend an afternoon on the beach building sandcastles or paddling in the sea.
Golfers bring your sticks! Royal Lytham St Annes is a popular course for the British Open and is only 7 miles away. There are 8 golf courses around the area to suit all handicaps.
So if you’re considering a stay over in Blackpool consider staying at least three nights to ensure you see the best this town can offer.
