Well think again. The Desert Cave Hotel in South Australia offers holidaymakers the experience of a lifetime. Make no mistake about it this is a cave, but it has been converted into one of South Australia’s finest hotels.
The underground hotel features a casino, shops, a bar and opal display areas. Rooms are spacious with high ceilings and are made of beautiful, natural sandstone. There is also a pool and spa complete with gym.
There are above ground rooms available if sleeping underground is a little too strange for you.
In 1989, the Desert Cave Hotel won both the South Australian and National Tourism Awards for Tourism Development. The Desert Cave Hotel again won the South Australian Tourism Award for national standard accommodation in 1990 and 1991. There are 50 suites in total and each contains a colour television, internet access, IDD phones, mini bar and tea and coffee making facilities.
A holiday in a cave may not be the first thing you think of when it comes to planning your summer holiday but perhaps it should be. If you think about it, when you need a break from the city and you want to be as far away from that pile of paperwork on your desk as possible, where better to be than in an underground cave on the other side of the world? Just don’t tell your boss about the internet access…
